| England
- North East
The weakest zone for
links golf in the British Isles due to a coastline
primarily consisting of cliffs, Seaton Carew is the
headline venue with Berwick-upon-Tweed running a strong
second.
England - East
A region for links
golfers that is dominated by the near neighbours of
Royal West Norfolk and Hunstanton. Just across The Wash,
Seacroft is relatively unknown but another high quality
venue.
England - South
East
In Royal St George's,
Royal Cinque Ports and Princes the Kent coast has three
Open Championship courses, past and present sitting side
by side. Further along the coast, Rye is exclusive but
well worth the effort to get a game.
England - South
West
All roads in the South West must lead to Saunton,
with both the East and West courses being superb tracks.
For the connoisseur, both Royal North Devon and St
Enodoc offer a unique and in part eccentric experience.
England - North
West
The cluster of links
courses on the Lancashire coast is one of the world's
great golf destinations. The "Royals" at
Birkdale, Lytham and Liverpool are all current Open
Championship venues, S&A an early Ryder Cup venue
yet Hillside may be the best of them all. Further up the
coast lies Silloth-on-Solway, a personal favourite. |
